Advent of Change: Days 17–24

17 December
Advent of Change: Marie Curie Nurses “Today you have helped fund the care and support of a person living with a terminal illness, and their family.”
Me, Abigail: NaNoWriMo – I have participated (and lost) for the past three years, and it’s a lovely creative outlet, with great resources for burgeoning writers!

18 December
Advent of Change: Wildlife & Welfare “Today you have helped keep a dog in remote indigenous Australia safe and happy by offering their owner a free veterinary consultation in an area where none are available.”
Me, Abigail: Partners in Health – I’ve used John and Hank Green’s link here to improve maternal health in Sierra Leone!

19 December
Advent of Change: National Autistic Society “Today you have helped create a society that works for autistic people, offering valuable support with the most crucial challenges faced.”
Me, Abigail: Water.org – Free, safe water for all; enough said!

20 December
Advent of Change: Forward “Today you have enabled 12 parents to access vital support, helping them break the cycle of crime and addiction to become positive role models.”
Me, Abigail: RAINN – This nonprofit really came to the forefront of my mind while listening to the backlog of the podcast My Favorite Murder.

21 December
Advent of Change: Winston’s Wish “Today you have provided a grieving child with a set of memory stones, helping them remember their loved one in a personal way.”
Me, Abigail: Veganuary – Because veganism is the easiest and best way to decrease your carbon footprint and save the environment compassionately!

22 December
Advent of Change: The Army’s National Charity “Today you have helped a veteran struggling with their mental health attend an employability workshop, ensuring they have the skills needed to start a new career.”
Me, Abigail: The Malala Fund – We have to keep backing what Malala is fighting for, because there’s so much further to go!

23 December
Advent of Change: Child Rescue Nepal “Today you have provided two weeks worth of nutritious school lunches for a child in rural Nepal.”
Me, Abigail: Indian Law Resource Center – Indigenous peoples still face appalling discrimination, and native women are disappearing at frightening rates. We have to support them!

24 December
Advent of Change: Baby Lifeline “Today you have helped to safely deliver a Christmas baby, by supporting a paramedic to learn the vital skills required to assist in an emergency out-of-hospital birth.”
Me, Abigail: Friends of Puerto Rico – I raised money for these friends back after the hurricane, but the need for help doesn’t end there!
